Jeric Valin was born in the undercity of the Rakis, a way-point along the Hydian Hyperspace route, and a major trade station/way point along the hyperspace route. Living amongst those forgotten amongst the lost and ignored on Rakis, having occasional contact with his mother, who was involved with the
gang organization, who controlled most of the action inside the spaceport. Valin’s father was a soldier who participated in the Mandorian/Sith conflict, and according to his mother was an officer of some renown.
Corruption ran amok, and Jeric found a place in the chaos and the crime of the underworld, as a low level enforcer. Times were good, and Jeric was working his way through the ranks and building a reputation as someone that could be trusted.
The collapse of the war, and the Treaty of Corsucant sent a shock wave through the galaxy, and historic divisions of power and influence collapsed with the new reality. Republic soldiers and administrators arrived and the “old ways” of doing business ended, and opened up new opportunities. Some of these opportunities required that old friendships and traditions end, and Jeric’s group found itself targeted as criminals, terrorists, and separatists. Under the guns of the Republic navy, the security forces swept through the city, guided by other criminal organizations that had joined the new government and become legitimate. Members of Jeric’s group were hunted down by rival gangs who were now legal deputies of the government of Rakis. Many friends were arrested and killed in the purges, but Jeric and a small crew made their way to the spaceport, and were able to gain access into the spacedocks.
Jeric made sure to stow his comrades on several transports leaving the system, using up what little money and influence he had left on Rakis to pay for their safety.
Has a system of drop notes with his crew – using the public boards at starports along the Hydian Hyperspace Route – drop notes have specific code words that can give contact information, or intel on what is going on (not much detail, but enough to get someones attention).
